You may have heard of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)? It is the EU's rules on what data (about individuals) organisations may collect and how they may process this data. It is important that you as a circle leader know a little about what GDPR is and how to handle other people's data in your role as a circle leader.

What is true about the GDPR?

    For each organisation, a list of participants with their personal identity number is created in a computer system.

      If for any reason participants do not want NBV to use their data, this should be communicated to NBV who may consider whether the person can participate or not.

        NBV has the right to handle personal data on a legal basis called "Task of public interest", it is decided in a regulation on state subsidies to popular education.

          We ask all circle leaders in NBV to be careful with the personal data they receive in their role as a circle leader, not to leave circle lists out so that others can see which participants are involved, address and phone number, etc.

            Personal data = name, address, telephone number and social security number.

              The donor, the Swedish Council for Adult Education, and Statistics Sweden receive the data, which cannot be traced to individual persons. They are de-identified.
